Attorney Michael Brown

Michael Brown earned his Bachelor's Degree from Hope College in Holland, Michigan, majoring in Psychology and Philosophy. After college, Mr. Brown worked in the construction industry for two years before attending the Wayne State University Law School in Detroit, Michigan. One of Mr. Brown's first great learning experiences outside the legal classroom was as a judicial intern for the Honorable Michael J. Callahan of the Wayne County Circuit Court. Simultaneously, Mr. Brown developed a strong interest in criminal law, which led to a paid internship with the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office for his final year of law school.

After completing his Juris Doctorate, Mr. Brown followed a calling to America's western expanses and came to the Phoenix area to join the Maricopa County Attorney's Office. During his time as a prosecutor, Mr. Brown handled a large felony and misdemeanor caseload, which included drafting and negotiating plea agreements, conducting probable cause hearings, and working with crime victims. Mr. Brown was also responsible for a misdemeanor Justice Court docket. As part of this duty, he was lead prosecutor in over thirty trials, including DUI trials before a jury. Handling DUI jury trials allowed Mr. Brown to learn the intricacies of DUI legal and trial issues.

It was during his time as a prosecutor in justice court that Mr. Brown discovered his passion for helping guide criminal defendants through the confusion and intimidation of the criminal justice system. Coupled with his aggressive advocacy skills, Mr. Brown has an empathic listening style and a desire to improve the lives of those around him.

In his free-time, Mr. Brown is an avid ice hockey player. He has been a captain of his high school, college, and law school hockey teams. Mr. Brown has also coached youth and women's amateur hockey teams and has refereed amateur hockey at all age levels. Since moving to Arizona, Mr. Brown has also become an avid outdoorsman. He regularly escapes the Valley heat by exploring the Arizona high country via 4x4 and backpack.
